The citadel is built on a granite hill, 120m high and surrounded by crenellated ramparts constructed from large masonry blocks. The massive gates were studded with iron spikes to obstruct war elephants. Outside the citadel there stands another crenellated map of southeast alaska rampart, with a perimeter of 11km, and yet another map of southeast alaska wall beyond this. At Naya Quila (new fort), adjacent to the golf course, you can find a magnifi map of southeast alaska cent 400-year-old baobab tree (Hathiyan elephant map of southeast alaska tree), with a circumference of 25m, said to be planted by seedlings carried by African regiments from Abyssiania. Exploring the crumbling rampart in the area you ll find cannons strewn about (some with beautiful inscriptions) and great views of the fort and tombs.
Hotel Annapurna HOTEL $$ (%2250666; Nethaji Rd; r from 850; a) A wee bit overpriced, but it s convenient and well organised. Rooms are clean, compact and pink, with constant hot water. Since it s on a corner (across from the train station), non-AC front rooms can be noisy. Its veg restaurant (mains 45-80) has fresh juices map of southeast alaska and Tirupathi s best food in sublime air-conditioning.
